Tottenham Hotspur attacker Carlos Vinicius has told the story of his first ever phone conversation with Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham’s official website published a transcript of Moura and Vinicius’ conversation prior to filming something for Spurs TV, and they shared their stories about joining the north London outfit.

Vinicius told of how he was personally called by the manager.

Mourinho called the Brazilian, and he cut straight to the chase, asking him a very blunt question.

“I remember he called me and said: ‘So, are you ready?’” The Tottenham striker said.

“He’s not just anybody. Imagine that, the best trainer in the world calling you, showing concern about you… This puts you at ease, you see. And he knows that this is very important to a player. It’s completely different. Even while being at the top, he knows, as a person…”

It’s incredibly interesting to get an insight into how Mourinho communicates with players he’s looking to sign.

What else do you expect from Mourinho though?

The Tottenham manager has always been incredibly blunt and straightforward in his press conferences, and it seems as though that’s what he’s also like behind closed doors.

Fortunately for Mourinho, he was able to convince Vinicius to come to north London.

The fact that Vinicius thinks Mourinho is a top manager in the world probably helped him in negotiations.

It wouldn’t surprise us if this is how the Spurs gaffer greets all of his transfer targets.

It’s an interesting insight into what it’s like to work with Mourinho.
