The Tottenham Hotspur man has seen his first-team opportunities increase this season.
Tottenham’s Ben Davies in action
Spurs left-back Ben Davies spoke to reporters about his recent contract extension with the club, and shared the message given to him by Mauricio Pochettino that convinced him to stay, as quoted on Wednesday’s print edition of the Sun on March 29th, page 54.
The Wales international has had to play second fiddle to Danny Rose since his £10 million move to White Hart Lane in the summer of 2014, but has played a more integral role in the Tottenham side this term, due to Rose’s ongoing injury problems, making 24 appearances in all competitions.
And the 23-year-old explained to the media how he is enjoying his current run in the first-team, sharing his desire to keep improving as a player, as quoted by the Sun (page 54 of Wednesday’s print edition on March 29th):
“All you want to do is play and at the moment I’m having a nice run. Speaking to the manager it’s all about improving as a player first and foremost. He said he wanted to keep me, so there were no doubts about signing.”

Spurs’ first choice left-back Rose has not played since January 31st, and Davies’ good form has helped his side maintain their impressive run in the Premier League.
They currently sit in second position in the table, albeit a distant 10 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
And with the Welshman’s superb form, it will be interesting to see how quickly Rose is reintegrated into the starting line-up upon his return to full fitness.
