Tottenham Hotspur threw away a lead to lose to Watford yesterday.
Tottenham defender Ben Davies spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing defeat to Watford yesterday, and shared why the loss was particularly hard to take for him and his teammates, as quoted by London Football News.
Spurs’ run of three consecutive victories was broken by the Hornets, and Mauricio Pochettino will be really concerned with the manner in which his side capitulated after taking the lead.
The Lilywhites failed to strengthen during the summer transfer window, and after yesterday’s defeat to Watford, there will be serious questions asked of the north London outfit.
Davies, who operated as a left wing-back for Tottenham yesterday, admitted that his side’s showing against the Hornets was quite simply not good enough, as quoted by London Football News:
“It’s disappointing, especially conceding from two set-pieces. We had a great start and it felt like it was undone by two sloppy goals. We weren’t at our best but when you go ahead you want to see out the game and we’re disappointed not to do that. It’s very disappointing. We didn’t really get cut apart by extremely good football. If that happens sometimes you can accept it. But two set-pieces, it was sloppy and we’re very disappointed. We have to learn quick. We have to get it out of our system and make sure that we work on it ready for the next game.”
Next up for Spurs is a home game against Liverpool in two week’s time, and Pochettino will be looking for a huge response from his side.
