Tottenham Hotspur will be really tested over the coming weeks during the absence of Harry Kane.
Tottenham’s Ben Davies in action
Spurs left-back Ben Davies raved about teammate Son Heung-min, when speaking to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s impressive 6-0 win over Millwall in the quarter final of the FA Cup on Sunday, and shared how the South Korean is really staking a claim to become a first-team regular at Tottenham, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The South Korean moved to White Hart Lane from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £18 million, and has since gone on to score 22 goals in 75 outings for the Lilywhites.
But he could very well be given extra responsibility over the coming weeks and months, with star striker Harry Kane expected to be absent for a prolonged period with an ankle injury.
And Davies explained how crucial the 24-year-old is to the manner in which Spurs play, when speaking to the media, as quoted by TottenhamHotspur.com:
Tottenham’s Son Heung-min celebrates scoring their third goal
“Every time he gets a chance on the field he seems to create something or seems to be involved in goals. It’s a big part of his game and he’s really staking a claim to get himself playing regularly. The quality and the strength in depth in this squad is there for all to see.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s men face a crucial five game spell in the Premier League that will lead up to their FA Cup semi final against Chelsea.
Of their next five opponents, only Southampton are inside the top half of the table, and they will surely be looking at a return of 15 points from those outings, if they are to put real pressure on the Blues at the top of the league.
And Son will be integral to their chances of doing just that.
