Spurs sealed their progression in the EFL Cup with a comfortable third-round victory.
Tottenham Hotspur youngsters, including summer signing George-Kevin N’Koudou, have taken to Twitter after being handed run-outs in the EFL Cup.
Mauricio Pochettino’s much-changed team side-stepped League One opponents Gillingham 5-0 at White Hart Lane on Wednesday, with Christian Eriksen (2), Vincent Janssen, Josh Onomah and Erik Lamela sharing the goals.
Prior to the game, neither Janssen nor Onomah had ever scored a competitive goal for Spurs, but the fixture was also significant for a number of the pair’s teammates.
Academy products Harry Winks and Cameron Carter-Vickers made their first starts for the club against the side managed by former White Hart Lane left-back Justin Edinburgh, while another two, Marcus Edwards and Anton Walkes were given debuts from the bench.
Also making his bow was summer signing Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, who replaced Eriksen in the 60th minute.

Spurs’ reward for beating Gillingham is a trip to Liverpool in the fourth round. Elsewhere, Manchester United host local rivals Manchester City, while Arsenal were handed a home tie against Reading.
