Tottenham Hotspur youngster Shayon Harrison has scored the first goal of his loan spell at Melbourne City.

Harrison clinched a surprise loan move to the Australian A-League side on deadline day.

His first month was tough going. Harrison played four games, failed to score, and saw his minutes decrease with each match.

Then this week against Sydney FC, the breakthrough came.

Harrison took his goal well, latching onto an excellent through ball, taking one touch, and guiding his shot past the goalkeeper.

Harrison was understandably thrilled to be off the mark.

The Tottenham youngster told the club’s media channel: “It was a really, really good experience.

“I knew as long as my first touch was good that I was able to put the finish away so I’m really happy and hopefully I can push on from here.”

Harrison, 20, has not had much success with previous loan spells with Yeovil Town and Southend United.

Across his three loans his record reads two goals in 32 games.

Once prolific at youth level, there is still time for Harrison to get back on track, but he is running out of time to earn a new contract at Tottenham this summer.

This at least was a step in the right direction for him.
