The Tottenham Hotspur starlet is hoping to make a real impression on the first-team tis season.
Tottenham youngster Luke Amos sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, in the aftermath of his side’s hard-fought 2-1 win away at Newcastle United on Saturday, and outlined his desire to maintain his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s setup this season.
Spurs fans were disgruntled with their club’s lack of transfer activity this summer, but the one positive to come out of it is that Pochettino will surely be open to providing some of his young stars with the chance to prove themselves in the senior team this season.
The Tottenham youngster spoke exclusively to the club’s official website, and shared how he has been told that he has already achieved the hardest part in making into Poch’s setup – a notion that he doesn’t necessarily agree with:
“It feels good, as a kid, that’s what you visualise, that’s what you work towards every day in training so to finally get out there…it sounds a cliché to say it’s a dream come true, but it really is. It was an important few minutes as well. It was great to get on at that stage. Some people say it’s the easy part getting in, but that’s not necessarily true. It’s the hard part getting in and the even harder part staying in! That’s all you want, to put yourself in a position to be in and around the squad. For me, yes, it’s another box ticked on the path but I’ve plenty of miles to go, so I’ll keep working hard.”
With Moussa Sissoko and Victor Wanyama both currently out injured for a sustained period, the 21-year-old Amos will be hoping for more opportunities to prove his worth to Pochettino.
And with Mousa Dembele facing an uncertain future in north London, he might just have an important role to play for Tottenham over the upcoming years.
