Tottenham Hotspur want Yannick Carrasco
The Telegraph report that Tottenham are in talks to sign Atletico ace Carrasco before the transfer deadline.
It’s claimed that Antonio Conte has been a long-term fan of Carrasco and Tottenham are now pushing to secure his signature.
The Belgian ace can play as a winger or wing back under Conte and that versatility – as well as his proven quality at the highest level – are very appealing to Tottenham.
It’s stated that Manchester United actually considered signing Carrasco but backed away when they realised they could finally sign Ajax star Antony.
That has effectively cleared the way for Tottenham to push for Carrasco’s signature in the coming days.
This comes just as Tottenham send Sergio Reguilon to Atletico, so something of an exchange could be in the works.
Carrasco is understood to have a £51million release clause in his contract, but Atletico may settle fora round £25million for the 28-year-old.
Carrasco has now enjoyed two spells with Atletico, racking up 37 goals 39 assists in 221 appearances for the La Liga side.
A brief spell in China with Dalian Professional saw Carrasco smash 24 goals and 18 assists in just 52 games, and the fact that Diego Simeone has made him a key player not once but twice says a lot.
Simeone and Conte demand similar things from their players and you can certainly see Carrasco become an important player at Spurs.
Hailed for his ‘incredible dribbling’ by Simeone, Carrasco looks to be Tottenham’s top target in the final days of the window and is the main name to keep an eye on as Fabio Paratici looks to strike a deal.
