Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the AS Monaco wide man.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar this summer, and his arrival would rectify the mistake Spurs made in signing Georges-Keven N’Koudou almost 12 months ago.
N’Koudou has had limited chances this season, showing sporadic glimpses of his ability when he has been given minutes on the pitch, but the problem with the 22-year-old is he is still very much a work-in-progress.
Lemar may be a year younger than his countryman, but the Monaco winger already looks like the finished product and he could take North London by storm if Tottenham can get a deal over the line.
The 21-year-old scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists for Monaco in their blistering campaign, and he would thrive playing alongside the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
Tottenham spent so long negotiating a deal for N’Koudou that you would have thought they were bagging a world-beater. However, while his time may come, he still has a lot to learn in order to get the best out of his abilities.
Wingers are curious creatures – often frustrating but equally as majestic. The thing with Lemar is that he is far more the latter than the former and Tottenham are desperate for quality, creativity and pace down the flanks.
Lemar possesses all three in abundance and one can only fear for N’Koudou if Monaco do agree to sell to Tottenham in the upcoming transfer window.
