Jack Wilshere ruled out a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.
The 28-year-old told Sky Sports’ Super Six podcast that he could never join Spurs due to being an Arsenal academy graduate.
Wilshere spent his whole career as an Arsenal player until 2018 when he joined West Ham United as a free agent.
Fast forward two years, Wilshere, who has 34 caps for England, is without a club again and is eligible to sign for anybody.
But he won’t be joining the Gunners’ North London rivals – and Spurs legend Graham Roberts has claimed on Twitter that his old side would never have him anyway.
Roberts is spot-on here.
Tottenham wouldn’t only refuse to sign Wilshere because of his Arsenal history, but it’s also becuase they have much better midfielders.
The likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso are enjoying brilliant seasons under Jose Mourinho and if we’re honest, Wilshere, who can play a number of midfield roles, isn’t better than any of them these days.
