The Tottenham Hotspur youngster spent last season on loan in Holland.
Tottenham youngster Marcus Edwards sat down for an exclusive interview with the Independent, and suggested that he is misunderstood by the club’s fans.
The 20-year-old has only made one senior outing for Spurs – a League Cup substitute appearance, and he spent last season on loan with Eredivisie outfit Excelsior.
Edwards impressed in Holland, racking up three goals and five assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.
The pacey winger will be hoping to kick on and improve once again next season, but whether that will be at Tottenham or away on loan somewhere remains to be seen.
Edwards suggested that some Spurs fans don’t actually understand him, when asked by the Independent if he feels misunderstood sometimes:
“I think some people don’t understand me. Why? “I don’t know, I think maybe it’s the way I talk. I think that is how it is in football.”
With the quality that Mauricio Pochettino currently has amongst his Tottenham squad, it might just be best for Edwards to go out on loan again next season, because in truth, he still has a long way to go before he can even be considered as a regular starter for the north London outfit.
