Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are willing to pay €40 million (£35 million) to sign AC Milan defensive midfielder Ismael Bennacer, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to re-sign, according to CMW.

Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Arsenal target Ismael Bennacer

The Italian news outlet have claimed that Tottenham are ready to pay €40 million (£35 million) for Bennacer, but defending Serie A champions AC Milan will not sell him for that price.

Milan technical director Paolo Maldini is not wiling to sell the 25-year-old defensive midfielder unless he gets a substantial offer for him.

Interestingly, Bennacer has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool as well.

According to CMW last month, Arsenal are interested in signing Bennacer from AC Milan in the summer of 2023 and are ready to include Thomas Partey in a bid to bring the defensive midfielder back to the Emirates Stadium

TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a ‘great admirer’ of the midfielder,

Bennacer, who was on the books of Arsenal from 2015 until 2017, is under contract at Milan until the summer of 2024.

Could a transfer happen in January?

In our opinion, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be able to sign Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan in the January transfer window.

Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are the defending Italian champions.

The former UEFA Champions League winners are surely not going to sell one of their best players in the middle of the season.

If Arsenal or Tottenham are to sign the Algeria international midfielder, then we think that they will have to wait until the summer of 2023.
