Spurs will have to act fast if they hope to secure the signing of Ajax youngster Donny Van de Beek, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly entering the race for his signature, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.
Sky Sports reported that Tottenham were closely monitoring the midfielder way back in October last year, with Mauricio Pochettino apparently keen on bolstering his options in the middle of the park.

Van de Beek has really impressed in the Eredivisie this term, scoring eight goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for Ajax – all from a central midfield role.
He would undoubtedly fit into Pochettino’s high intensity pressing game, what with his impressive stamina levels and athleticism.

Calcio Mercato claim that the Lilywhites will have to step up their pursuit of the 20-year-old, however, with Borussia Dortmund identifying him as a primary transfer target this month.
The Holland international would be following in the footsteps of Christian Erisken if he did complete a switch to Spurs, after the Dane made the same transfer from the Dutch giants to north London at a similar age way back in 2013.
