Bertrand Traore has had a taste of Premier League football before and now Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are reportedly keen on his services.
Transfer deadline day is edging ever closer and it seems as though Tottenham and West Ham are still keen on adding to their forward lines.
The Hammers have broken their transfer record this summer by signing striker Sebastien Haller, whilst Spurs signed winger Jack Clarke, who was then loaned back to Leeds.
But could another face land on the doorsteps of either Tottenham or West Ham before August 8 deadline?
TeamTalk have claimed that London duo Tottenham and West Ham are interested in signing Lyon attacker Bertrand Traore, who previously played for Chelsea in the Premier League.
It didn’t quite work out for the 23-year-old at Stamford Bridge, and there’s not enough to suggest that he’ll deliver again if given another chance for either of the above teams.
First and foremost, it is highly unlikely he will get into either Spurs’ or West Ham’s starting XI. Both have strong forward lines and he would struggle to push ahead of those already delivering the goods at White Hart Lane and the London Stadium.
At Lyon last season, he played both as a forward and on the right flank, scoring 11 and supplying five assists in 48 matches in all competitions [transfermarkt].
Tottenham need to take the next step under Mauricio Pochettino by winning a trophy, whilst the Hammers want European football.
It has to be questioned whether a signing like Traore would help either club take that next step. West Ham is the most likely option, but both need players of much better quality. Simply put, if Tottenham or West Ham were to sign Traore then the potential transfer wouldn’t sit well with the fans.
