Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is taking some serious verbal punches after the Tottenham Hotspur target won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina.
The footballing world watched Martinez, on football’s biggest stage, produce the ____housery of all ____housery’s with his antics during the penalty shootout, which helped Argentina beat France to the world title.
But Martinez’s actions, including holding a baby doll with Kylian Mbappe’s face on it, hasn’t sat down well with many, including his former France teammate and World Cup winner, Adil Rami.

The former defender has dubbed Martinez ‘the most hated man’ in football for his actions, as quoted by the Metro.
Many feel that the 30-year-old crossed the line during the shootout and they think he is now going overboard with his disrespect of Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick on the day.
“The most hated man,” said Rami. “Mbappe traumatized them so much that they celebrate the victory against our team more than their World Cup.”

TOTTENHAM’S INTEREST IN MARTINEZ
Whilst Martinez was on one end causing all sorts of problems for France, including getting into the players’ heads and forcing Aurélien Tchouaméni to shoot wide from the spot.
Tottenham and France star Hugo Lloris was told that he ‘looked like a drowned rat’, as he failed to deny any Argentina players during the shootout.
Nonetheless, whilst Lloris enjoyed a fruitful World Cup, where he performed much better than he has been at Tottenham this season, there has been talk of Antonio Conte looking at replacing the player in north London.
Whilst Everton and England number one Jordan Pickford has been heavily mentioned, so has Villa’s thriving star Emi Martinez, who signed a new contract until 2027 last January.
