Tottenham are looking to beat Manchester United to the signature of Roma striker Tammy Abraham come the summer of 2023. Harry Kane once described Abraham as a “great player” and now, Abraham could replace him at Tottenham.

Kane’s future remains a talking point. While he remained at Spurs in 2021 despite bids from Manchester City, his future has never not been up for discussion. With his current deal ending in 2024, Spurs need to press on and tie him down.

But the England skipper is unlikely to put pen to paper until Antonio Conte does. The two are likely to be intertwined in terms of their future, with Conte finally giving Spurs some prospect of winning a trophy. Abraham could replace him.

Indeed, CalcioMercato report that Abraham is a striker Spurs will target – along with Manchester United. That will only occur if Kane departs. Speaking about Abraham recently, Kane said his England teammate is a “great player”.

“Tammy is a great player. He’s had a fantastic season at club level,” Kane told TalkSPORT, as per the Evening Standard. “We have some great English strikers who are scoring goals. Tammy is doing that for Roma. He’s a great player.”

“Great player” Abraham could replace Kane at Tottenham

Tottenham obviously do not want to lose Kane, but if they are going to, they could do a lot worse than bring Abraham back to London. The issue is, that Abraham lacks the creativity of Kane. Spurs will find it near impossible to replace him.

For £100million, Spurs should really be looking elsewhere. Perhaps using any figure they get for Kane on a striker, and an attacking midfielder to create the goals for the new striker. Like Kevin De Bruyne does for Erling Haaland at City.

But Spurs would rather avoid the need to sign a striker and give Kane a massive pay rise. If they can keep Kane until he is well past his thirties, then they will not need to sign another striker for at least the next six years.
