Spurs star Eriksen has been linked with a departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent months.
Tottenham Hotspur legend Chris Waddle has shared his opinion about Christian Eriksen’s future at Spurs as well as his thoughts on where he thinks Mauricio Pochettino’s side will finish in the Premier League this season, in conversation with BBC Sport.
Spurs go into the 2019-20 campaign having finished in the top four last season as well as reaching the final of the Champions League, and they have also made a number of high-profile signings following two windows bereft of new arrivals.
Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon are now on the books at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as is Jack Clarke, who has gone out on loan back to Leeds United, while Giovani Lo Celso has joined on loan from Real Betis with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Although the English transfer window has shut in terms of incomings, players can still leave to go abroad until the end of August, so Eriksen’s future remains uncertain, given the heavy speculation linking him with a departure from N17 – Real Madrid reportedly remain in the hunt (AS).
“I actually think Eriksen will stay – the clubs he thought would come in for him have not made a move – but in any case Spurs are a very efficient side,” Waddle told BBC Sport. “I am confident they will finish third but for me this is it – this is the time when they have to start winning silverware.”
Spurs get their Premier League season under way in Saturday’s 5:30pm kickoff when they welcome top-flight new-boys Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
