Tottenham Hotspur want Victor Osimhen with more claims suggesting that Antonio Conte wants a big transfer outlay in 2023.

Some thought Tottenham were on for a trophy-challenging season this term.

Antonio Conte decided to stay put and with money spent on the likes of Yves Bissouma and Richarlison, the belief was that Tottenham’s squad had the depth needed to challenge.

However, Tottenham look so lacklustre going forward and barely laid a glove on Manchester United in midweek.

The absence of Dejan Kulusevski is being felt and Conte may demand some high-profile attacking additions in 2023.

Tottenham Hotspur want Victor Osimhen

It feels like there is a rumour every few weeks that Conte needs to be convinced by Tottenham’s long-term aspirations and that he will need a big budget to stay.

Here we are again, with claims from Italy emerging about a new striker being wanted by Conte.

Yet whilst Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez has been mentioned once again, this latest rumour surrounds Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen.

Italian transfer reporter Enrico De Lellis has told Calciomercato that it’s Osimhen and not Martinez that Conte is pushing Fabio Paratici to sign.

De Lellis claims that Conte will be given around €200million (£174million) to spend in 2023 and Tottenham fancy Osimhen even if it’s unclear whether he can be tempted to North London.

“In addition to his salary, he will have a budget of around 200 million euros,” said De Lellis. “There are rumours about Lautaro, but the real name that Conte told Paratici is Osimhen. The Napoli striker is also very popular with Bayern Munich and Manchester United, even if the Germans closely follow Sesko as well. Their policy is to carry out operations under €100 million, so Osimhen is a secondary option.

“The Nigerian is the classic Premier League footballer and it turns out to be the real target of Tottenham. But it will be necessary to understand his will: he is demanding for the future and not only from an economic point of view,” he added.

Osimhen, 23, is one of the top young strikers in the world and hit 14 Serie A goals last season.

The Nigerian has scored three goals in six games this term and Napoli will be expecting much more from him as they chase the Serie A title this season.

We couldn’t blame Tottenham fans for being excited here but we also just can’t see this one happening.

Tottenham just paid relatively big money for a striker in Richarlison and Harry Kane isn’t going to be replaced any time soon.

Tottenham spending up to £100million on a new striker in Osimhen just doesn’t make sense, and he surely wouldn’t be all that keen if Kane is still around.

Osimhen is being backed for stardom, not playing second fiddle to Kane.

Add in that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are in the market for strikers and those moves make more sense for Osimhen than Tottenham – especially with Chelsea allegedly stepping up their interest.

Spurs would be better off adding wingers to Conte’s squad with a real lack of depth emerging in wide areas amid Kulusevski’s injury.
