The Spurs icon played for both the Lilywhites and Real Madrid, a club Eriksen has been linked with recently.

Tottenham Hotspur cult hero Rafael van der Vaart has given his opinion on Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen amid speculation linking the Dane to Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old is contracted to Tottenham until the summer of 2020, which means this summer is the last in which Spurs could potentially command a fee for the player, as next winter he would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club.
Eriksen, who has made 38 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this term, registering seven goals and 12 assists, has been linked with the reigning European champions, as well as Italian champions Juventus, in recent months, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
Van der Vaart is a player who has experience of both Los Blancos and the Lilywhites, playing for the former between 2008 and 2010 before moving directly to the latter for two years at White Hart Lane, where he made 77 appearances, scoring 28 goals and claiming 18 assists according to Transfermarkt.

In conversation with the London Evening Standard, the Dutchman was asked whether he thinks Eriksen could succeed at the Bernabeu but the outlet suggested that he is unsure whether he has the right character, saying: “He’s a fantastic player, but he comes across a little bit quiet.”
Eriksen’s time at Spurs has yielded 264 appearances, 63 goals and 81 assists since his switch from Ajax in the summer of 2013, while for Denmark, he has clocked up an impressive 87 caps, scoring 26 times and featuring in two World Cups – South Africa 2010 and Russia 2018.
