Tim Sherwood has told Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea to ‘exploit’ Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro ahead of their meeting on Monday night.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have the chance to return to the top of the Premier League table with three points against their London rivals.

But Tim Sherwood thinks Pedro Porro is a ‘weakness’ at the back for Tottenham, even though he likes what he does going forward, as he told Premier League Productions (06/11/23 at 5:45 pm).

When Pedro Porro made his Tottenham debut last season, he didn’t have the best of games as then-Antonio Conte’s side were ripped apart by Leicester City.

That also saw Tim Sherwood blast Spurs’ new right-back (Sky Sports), even though it was his first game in English football following his £39 million transfer from Sporting Lisbon (Sky Sports).

Well, the former Spurs boss was having a pop at Pedro Porro again, who has made a strong start to the new season.

“The weakness is the fullbacks,” said Sherwood. “If Udogie isn’t fit, I think he has done brilliantly. Pedro Porro is a poor defender. But he is a very good going forward.

“If I was Chelsea, then I would try to exploit that.”

Tottenham v Chelsea

On paper, if a team like Chelsea, who are sitting in the Premier League’s bottom half, were to play a team like Spurs who can go top, then it should be an easy victory for the latter.

But many think that Chelsea are far better than what the Premier League table suggests, not forgetting that it’s a London derby – Paul Merson said he would be ‘shocked’ if Chelsea lost.

You would think, whoever wins, it would be a statement of intent because of how big the game is.

For Chelsea, it would lift them up from their gloom and give the under-pressure Pochettino a bit of breathing space.

But for Spurs, they return to the top of the table and they can shut people up who think that they have had an easy start to the new season, in regards to the quality of opponents they have played.
