Tottenham urged to sign a proven winner by Tony Cascarino

Tottenham’s latest defeat has seen the North London side come in for heavy criticism.
Spurs let a 1-0 lead slip against Southampton, losing 2-1.
Pundit Tony Cascarino has criticised their lack of experience, and argues they need a ‘proven winner’ in the team.
Cascarino has suggested two players he believes Spurs could sign, Luka Modric and Thiago Silva.
He told The Times: “Potential is great, but the missing link is an established winner.
“Harry Kane is the captain, but he is a Tottenham man and is never going to demand more from Pochettino, never going to go in and ruffle feathers.
“They should aim to sign a big-name player. Real Madrid will be having a fire sale in the summer — could Spurs bring Luka Modric back? Paris Saint-Germain have financial fair play to contend with, could Spurs sign Thiago Silva?”

Luke Modric is the reigning Ballon d’Or winner after his heroics at the World Cup for Croatia last summer.
Thiago Silva signed for PSG for £36.3 million from AC Milan in 2012.
There is no suggestion either are available, however, both are in their 30s and have multiple titles on their CV.
It is fair to acknowledge Spurs lack a player like this in their team, a wily veteran who has been there and done it at the highest level.
Spurs have ben saving money over the past two transfer windows, and this summer is the time to invest it.
