Jamie O’Hara and Ally McCoist agree that Cristian Stellini should pay with his job following Tottenham Hotspur’s humiliating 6-1 Premier League defeat at Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
Did Daniel Levy just misunderstand what they mean by a ‘new manager bounce’?
Sacking Antonio Conte, replacing him with his long-time assistant, and expecting something different? What was Albert Einstein’s definition of ‘insanity’ again?

If Conte was a problem at Tottenham, then one can only expect Stellini was one of the symptoms. A man who worked alongside the Italian at Juventus and Inter Milan before following him to North London merely representing a continuation of the malaise and the mediocrity; Sunday’s 6-1 hammering at Newcastle United proof that even rock bottom can be excavated.

And O’Hara, the former Tottenham midfielder, cannot understand why Stellini was not given his P45 when Conte departed a month ago.
“Stellini is a joke. He should have gone with Conte,” O’Hara tells talkSPORT (24 April, 9am).
“They are a disgrace. They’ve got no leaders. They don’t want to be there. They’ve switched off, and they want to be on holiday.
“You’ve sacked Conte and hired his assistant. You don’t want top four. Everyone just wants to get to the end – the seasons been written off – and start again.
“I was just ashamed of being a Spurs fan.”
Tottenham have now lost successive games under Stellini; finding themselves 5-0 down after just 20 minutes at St James’ Park a mere eight days after that last-gasp home defeat to relegation-threatened AFC Bournemouth.
And if McCoist had his way, iconic former coach Harry Redknapp would find his phone ringing off the hook on Monday morning.
“I just thought it was really, really poor,” the Rangers legend adds. “I would go to Harry Redknapp and say; ‘Would you take us until the end of the season?’.”
Tottenham are now fifth; Champions League qualification increasingly unlikely. Fourth-place Manchester United are six points clear with two games in hand.
