Fabrizio Romano has suggested on Twitter that Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to be able to sign James Garner from Manchester United, and this will come as good transfer news for Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that as things stand, Tottenham are an unlikely option for Manchester United midfielder Garner.
Earlier today, The Athletic reported that Tottenham, Leeds, Everton and Southampton all are interested in signing the 21-year-old English midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur unlikely for Leeds United target James Garner
Leeds more viable option than Spurs
In our opinion, Manchester United would rather send James Garner to Leeds United than to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United and Tottenham are regular challengers for the Premier League top four, and the Red Devils will surely not want to send a promising and talented player such as Garner to Spurs.

On the other hand, Leeds are a viable option for Garner, either on loan or on a permanent basis.
Now, we know that there is intense rivalry between Manchester United and Leeds, but we saw Daniel James leave Old Trafford for Elland Road not so long ago.
Garner spent the second half of the 2020-21 season and the entire 2021-22 campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest from the Red Devils.
The youngster helped the Reds win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of last season.
Garner made 39 starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for the Reds last season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists in the process.
