Alfie Devine scored a brace but Tottenham Hotspur’s U19 side suffered a 3-2 defeat in a UEFA Youth League clash on Wednesday afternoon at Hotspur Way – and here are our player ratings as Frankfurt came from 2-0 down to win:

Adam Hayton – 6

Could do very little with any of Frankfurt’s goals, actually making a brilliant stop in the lead up to Frankfurt’s second. Very good length in his kicking, but ultimately, conceded twice as Frankfurt came roaring back in the second 45.

Maxwell McKnight – 5

Hard-working display from the right-back, but offered little going forward and was guilty of surrendering possession on a number of occasions. Perhaps slightly too vigorous when trying to win it back, giving away the odd foul.

William Andiyapan – 4

Let Frankfurt attacker Divaio Bobson get a run on him for Frankfurt’s first goal, proving pretty static in his own penalty area. But otherwise, neat passing without trying anything too extravagant. An average display from the centre-back.

Alfie Dorrington – 6

The pick of the defenders, despite still being only 17. He towered among his teammates and opponents, a constant threat in both boxes. Should have scored from a corner, and had little to do with any of Frankfurt’s three goals.

George Abbott – 5 (replaced by Moore, 88 mins)

Solid display from the left-back, without really making any mistakes – but without excelling either. He did clear an early effort off the line, with the score reading 0-0. Should have closed the cross down quicker for Frankfurt’s second.

Jamie Donley – 8

Transitionally, Donley was excellent. Seemingly having all the space in the world when in possession, he picked up some lovely positions to feed Tottenham’s attacking three. Nabbed assists for both goals and looks a real talent.

Matthew Craig – 4

The Scotland Under-21 international, and Spurs skipper, was well-controlled in the middle of the park in the first 45, but lost control of the game in the second half. Sent off in injury time for a straight red card for a stamp, poor.

Alfie Devine – 9

Tottenham fans all know about the ex-Wigan man. A player that has already scored at senior level. He continued to nab the headlines with his brace, both created by the impressive Donley. A willing runner, behind the defence. Superb.

Jaden Williams – 7 (62 mins, replaced by Lankshear)

Bit of a threat in the first half without actually producing anything special, but immediately went quiet in the second 45 as Frankfurt came roaring back. Showed some nice touches and contributed to Tottenham’s attacking play.

Yago Santiago – 7

Incredibly hard working up top, the best asset to Santiago’s play was his intelligence. Defensively, his hold-up play was superb, winning fouls all over the pitch. Getting out of the way of Devine for the midfielder’s second was also clever.

Romaine Mundle – 7

Mundle, 19, is already pretty experienced at this level with 31 games for the second string. But it was his speed on the ball and some lovely driving runs at Frankfurt that caught the eye. Huge chance to make it 3-3, fluffed his lines.
