Tottenham want Trevoh Chalobah but may now face a battle with their former boss Jose Mourinho, with Roma also chasing the Chelsea talent.

Chalobah emerged into the Chelsea first team last season after loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient.

The 23-year-old featured 20 times in the Premier League last term, claiming three goals in the process.

The problem for Chalobah is first-team football; even with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger gone, Chalobah still isn’t starting.

Chalobah may now seek to move on before the transfer deadline – and there is no shortage of interest in his signature.

Tottenham want Trevoh Chalobah

The Daily Mail note that Tottenham are interested in signing Chalobah – but they are far from alone.

Aston Villa and Inter MIlan are also keen on Chalobah, whilst Jose Mourinho’s Roma have joined the race for his signature.

It’s suggested that Chelsea may allow Chalobah to go out on loan, though that means a permanent move may not be on the cards.

It’s hard to imagine to Chelsea allowing Chaobah to join Tottenham at all, never mind on loan, so that move seems a little unlikely right now.

Villa could make some sense – they need another centre back after the injury sustained by Diego Carlos.

Yet with Roma now in the mix too, Tottenham’s task of signing Chalobah has become even more difficult.

Roma are seemingly chasing a new centre back to support the likes of Roger Ibanez, Chris Smalling and Gianluca Mancini.

Marash Kumbulla may be leaving this summer, and that would free up room for Chalobah to come in on loan for the season.

The pull of playing for Mourinho is big, and the Roma boss may be in a great position to beat his former club Tottenham to Chalobah’s signing.

That move certainly seems more likely than a switch to Tottenham anyway, with Fabio Paratici potentially having to look elsewhere.
