Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a swoop for Montpellier ace Nordi Mukiele.

Le10Sport report Spurs have been scouting the versatile defender regularly this season ahead of a potential move.

Mukiele, 20, has made 30 Ligue 1 appearances this season, mostly at centre-back, and also filling in at right-back when needed.

The young Frenchman helped keep a clean sheet against a Dmitri Payet led Marseille at the weekend.

He is an outstanding prospect, but Tottenham may have to hope their interest is not complicated by London rivals Chelsea.

This is because Mukiele is a fan of the Blues, and is an admirer of ex-captain John Terry.

Speaking to Made In Foot last year, he was asked to name the one league and club in Europe he was most attracted to if he had to leave Montpellier.

Mukiele’s response was clear: “England, with Chelsea.”

Asked to pick a particular player he admired, he responded: “I liked John Terry, but he’s gone since, otherwise, in Spain, there is a player I admire: Sergio Ramos.”

He added at the time he was very content at Montpellier, and nothing has emerged since to contradict that, but he would find it tough to resist a big move.

His Chelsea admiration will not necessarily stop him moving to Tottenham, Serge Aurier was once pictured in an Arsenal shirt.

But if it comes down to a straight choice between the two, there will only be one winner.
