Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has told Chris Cowlin’s YouTube that it is “true” that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Harry Kane from Tottenham in the coming months, but there is “every chance” he signs a new Spurs deal.

Kane, 29, took his goal tally to 17 goals in all competitions on Saturday – and one behind the all-time Tottenham top goalscorer in Jimmy Greaves. The England skipper, though, is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Bayern Munich have been strongly linked with a move, while rumours in recent says suggest Manchester United are looking at a move to lure Kane to Old Trafford. Where do we stand regarding Tottenham’s chances of keeping Kane?

Cowlin asked Sheth about the future of Kane in a video published on his YouTube channel on Tuesday. He says that it is “true” that Bayern want to sign Kane. However, Sheth says there is “every chance” he signs a new deal at Spurs.

“There is all this talk about Bayern Munich being interested in him, that is true. Bayern are very interested in him. Do I see him going to Bayern? I’m not so sure, it is very important to Kane not only to win trophies.

“But to break records at Tottenham. But he wants to break the Premier League record. I do see him staying. Every chance he signs a new contract,” Sheth told Cowlin on his YouTube when discussing Bayern’s interest in Kane.

Sheth: True that Bayern are interested in signing Kane from Tottenham

But Sheth makes a brilliant point. If Kane is going to leave Tottenham, he is hardly going to leave the Premier League. He will have Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals in his sights. Kane currently sits on a huge 198.

He has taken just 300 games to do that. You would suggest that with another 100 Premier League appearances, Kane will go mightily close to rivalling Shearer for the record. To do that, he needs to remain in England – or at Spurs.

So, it instantly makes a move to Manchester United more feasible. Or, simply, signing a new contract at Tottenham and potentially, seeing his career out at Spurs. A lot will be down to whether Antonio Conte remains at the club.
