Tim Howard has stated that he would ‘hate’ it if Harry Kane decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the forthcoming summer transfer window.
The former Premier League goalkeeper told NBC Sports it is high time Harry Kane left Tottenham and joined a team like Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United or Chelsea, who are set to appoint Mauricio Pochettino.
That’s a call the 29-year-old might have to make when the summer transfer window re-opens because those teams might just come knocking.

Of course, a certain Daniel Levy, who runs the Spurs ship, might have something to say about that.
But with 12 months left on the England captain’s contract in north London, then it’s going to see interesting to see how the likes of Levy react to a possible bid coming in.
For Howard, whilst he feels Kane needs to leave, he doesn’t think he is the type of person to ‘dig his heels in’ and demand a transfer away from the club.
“They might be a midtable team with him,” said Howard. “I would hate to see him stay, if I am being honest.
“I don’t think he owes Spurs anything. He has given anything he can to Spurs. It’s messy at Spurs. They need to name a manager and a sporting director.
“Daniel Levy holds all the cards. I don’t know if Harry Kane has it in him to dig his heels in and kick up a fuss. I certainly think there are teams, like Manchester United and Chelsea that could use him and he could have an instant impact. What he could do for those teams near enough at the top of the table, I think would be incredible.
“It is special to be a one-club man, no doubt. He is chasing more than that. I don’t think where they are right now, he gets that.”

COULD HARRY KANE STAY AT TOTTENHAM?
As of this moment, the signs suggest that he might actually stay because nothing much is coming out.
But, when the season ends on Sunday, it’s a trip to Leeds United for Spurs on the final day, and then the rumour mill might just start to open up about what Kane wants to do.
If Levy brings in a new manager, as soon as possible, then there is every chance Kane stays because that individual – if it’s somebody like Arne Slot – could persuade him to stay put.
