AS Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo is reportedly set to miss this weekend’s Serie A clash against Italian leaders Napoli amid rumours that Tottenham are in talks to sign the 23-year-old attacker.
According to Calcio Napoli 24, the Roma forward will once again be absent from Jose Mourinho’s squad as Zaniolo inches closer to a departure from the Italian capital, with Italian journalist Rudy Galetti reporting that the versatile attacking midfielder has agreed terms with Tottenham after talks with the north London side.
However, recent reports have seemingly indicated that AC Milan are in fact the closest to signing Zaniolo this January, with Alfredo Pedulla claiming that the Rossoneri are inching towards a full agreement to bring the Tottenham target to the San Siro.
With Tottenham securing the signature of Arnaut Danjuma on loan, it would make sense as to why Zaniolo has now agreed to sign for Milan. However, given how different the two players are, Antonio Conte missing out on the Italian talent could be quite the blow for the Premier League side.

Indeed, with Zaniolo now missing Roma’s clash against Napoli this weekend, a transfer away from the Eternal City now feels certain for the Italian international. And for Tottenham, there could be some calls from supporters and pundits to secure the 23-year-old.
Given that a creative outlet with an eye for goal is what Tottenham are crying out for, Zaniolo would be a perfect January signing for Spurs. And with the forward now missing this weekend’s huge Serie A clash against Napoli, there is some a hope a move to north London could be on the cards.
Tottenham should go all the way to sign Zaniolo

Milan might be in the driving seat to land Zaniolo, but as Tottenham have already shown this month with Danjuma, they’re not afraid to hijack a deal even when everything looked signed and secured, and Spurs repeating such a move with the Roma star could be a wise decision.
As we know, Tottenham could do with signing another forward even with Danjuma en-route to north London, and Zaniolo could be ideal given how many roles the attacker can play and how suited the youngster would be to Conte’s system.
