AS Roma are now reportedly open to selling Nicolo Zaniolo for as little as €25m (£22m) despite recent rumours that Tottenham were willing to sign the attacker for €40m (£35m).

According to SportItalia, the Italian international could now leave Rome for a dramatically lower asking price than what has recently been reported, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Fabio Paratici had made an offer for the Roma star believed to be close to what Jose Mourinho’s side are asking for.

Lauded as ‘extraordinary’ by the Portuguese manager himself, Tottenham are keen to add a creative forward to their ranks this January with Antonio Conte eager to improve Spurs’ fortunes after a rotten run of form that has seen the north London side win just once in the Premier League in 2023.

As per SportItalia, Zaniolo is wanted by numerous Premier League clubs, including London rivals Arsenal and West Ham. However, with Mikel Arteta’s side in talks with Leandro Trossard and the Irons close to signing Danny Ings, Tottenham could be in the clear to land the Italian international.

Indeed, Tottenham signing Zaniolo would be a good move for all parties and a deal that could see Conte regain favour in the eyes of the supporters, with the 23-year-old one of the best talents in Seire A and a player who has been linked with a move to Spurs for some time.

And with Roma now lowering their asking price for Zaniolo, there are now no excuses for the north London side to go all in on signing the versatile attacker this month, with Conte and Paratici now in a race against time to bring the Italian forward to north London this January.

It would be an oversimplification to say that Tottenham are in need of a motivational boost this month. Yet following this latest update, that uplift could soon be on its way in the form of Zaniolo, who seems perfect to play for Spurs under Conte.

Capable of playing numerous attacking roles and having playmaking qualities that Tottenham are in desperate need of, Zaniolo ticks a lot of boxes for what Spurs need in the market this January, and at £22m, Conte and his team must do all they can to sign the Italian this month.
