Tottenham Hotspur have been named as a potential destination for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij if they can’t sign Cristian Romero.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who claim that De Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola has been sounding out Premier League clubs for a potential transfer.
No takers yet, but it’s stated that a move to Tottenham could be a possibility if Fabio Paratici can’t secure the signing of Atalanta star Romero.
Reports from Romero’s native Argentina claim that Tottenham have now had a deal of around £47million accepted by Atalanta, but the move hinges on the Serie A club managing to sign Juventus defender Merih Demiral as a replacement.
Director of football Paratici would be wise to have alternative targets in mind, and De Vrij could well be one of them.
Inter are desperate to raise funds this summer but don’t want to lose strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, so other players may be on the chopping block.

De Vrij turns 30 in February, meaning he isn’t quite the long-term answer that Romero would be, but he has been a dependable centre back for a long time now.
With almost 400 appearances across spells with Feyenoord, Lazio and Inter as well as having 49 caps for the Netherlands, De Vrij is very experienced.
De Vrij may not be top of Paratici’s list, but he is now a name to keep an eye on as Raiola attempts to find an English club to strike a deal.
