French outlet Media Foot report that Tottenham are looking at a deal for Nantes captain Alban Lafont as a replacement for Hugo Lloris between the sticks – with Lafont perhaps the man to replace Lloris at National Team level, with France.
Lafont, 23, is starting to turn massive potential into proven quality. Breaking through at Toulouse as a teenager, Lafont joined Fiorentina after more than 100 senior games for Toulouse. He has long been eyed as France’s long-term no.1.
But he struggled at Fiorentina and returned to France in the summer of 2019, on a two-year loan. That loan deal was made permanent 18 months ago. He has gone on to clock up 133 appearances for Nantes – even becoming captain.
Lloris’ form has been poor for Spurs of late, including a howler on Sunday against Arsenal. He is likely to be replaced in the summer, and Spurs are now said to have joined the race for Lafont. Leicester are keen on him, but now are Spurs.

Tottenham transfer news: Spurs looking at Nantes captain Alban Lafont
Lloris has been poor and Spurs need to replace the French ace. Lafont would be a solid signing. Maybe, not the top-tier man that Tottenham have been linked with – the likes of David Raya, Jordan Pickford and plenty more stoppers.
But Lafont is a goalkeeper that has huge potential. He can be the future of Spurs for a decade or more. TransferMarkt say he is represented by the same agency that look after Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, which may help Spurs get a deal.
Lafont has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Nantes. He may feel that he has not outgrown Nantes and needs a big move to realise his undeniable potential. And, to show France he is the future no.1. Spurs could be ideal.
