The Mail claim Tottenham Hotspur scout Jeff Vetere has left the club after less than six months in the role after he told Colombian TV that one of the club’s main transfer targets was goalkeeper Kevin Mier – leaving the club ‘astounded’.
Vetere – who has previously worked at Newcastle and Real Madrid as a scout – joined Spurs back in September. But the 57-year-old has left, after speaking to Colombian outlet Win Sports TV. He said Atletico Nacional’s Mier is a target.
Spurs were left stunned by Vetere’s decision to reveal behind-the-scenes plans. A meeting was scheduled to review his initial few months with the club, with Tottenham deeming his actions unprofessional. But, Vetere decided to resign.
The Mail claim that Vetere would have been told to leave in said meeting. Mier, meanwhile, is a 22-year-old goalkeeper that has clocked up 62 senior outings for Nacional – keeping 22 clean sheets. He is yet to win a senior Colombia cap.

Now, scouts are renowned to divulge information at times to newspapers and that is a main source of where transfer stories can originate. But to go on TV as a representative of the club and say it, is completely unprofessional of Vetere.
Perhaps, he felt given it was Colombian TV, that he might get away with it given it. It was hardly as if it was Sky Sports News. But, it is still very poor from Vetere. Still in a probation period, there was only going to be one outcome for him.
Whether or not Spurs are still pursuing Mier remains to be seen. He is hardly going to be considered as Hugo Lloris’ immediate replacement. But maybe, Spurs felt they needed to bring in a younger stopper at the club. He has potential.
