Tottenham Hotspur are expected to join the race for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher at the end of the season.

That is according to a report from The Irish Independent, who claim that Tottenham are keen on Kelleher.

The 24-year-old is still contracted to Liverpool until 2026 but allegedly wants to go out and play regular first-team football.

That just isn’t going to happen at Liverpool with Alisson in goal, so Kelleher is keen to make a move away.

Few really expected Tottenham to be in this transfer race though, even with Hugo Lloris looking like a shadow of his former self.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of goalkeepers, but almost all of them have more first-team experience than Kelleher.

The Ireland international has only ever played four times in the Premier League and only 17 times in other competitions for Liverpool.

Tottenham need a quality stopper for years to come and putting their faith in Kelleher would be an enormous surprise this summer.

Celtic move looking unlikely for Caoimhin Kelleher

The report adds that Brentford as well as Brighton and Hove Albion are interested in signing Kelleher this summer.

Liverpool are seemingly willing to sell Kelleher this summer but would need a fee of around £20million for his signature.

That’s a hefty price – around £5million per Premier League appearance!

Tottenham taking that kind of gamble just doesn’t seem likely, even if they do rate Kelleher.

The price tag would certainly rule Celtic out of the race amid recent speculation surrounding a move to Parkhead.

The Transfer Room reported in March that Celtic were in the race to snap up Kelleher this summer.

Maybe Celtic wanted a loan deal for the Irishman as £20million is surely out of Ange Postecoglou’s price range.

Celtic do have a fairly settled stopper in Joe Hart too, meaning a summer deal for Kelleher seems very unlikely now.

Hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Jurgen Klopp, Kelleher should have a bright future – but whether that’s with Tottenham remains to be seen.
