Rennes have reportedly joined the race to sign Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma, with the likes of Everton and Tottenham already interested in the Dutch international this January.

According to Foot Mercato, the Ligue 1 side are keen to add an attacking signing this month following long-term injuries to star attackers Martin Terrier and Arnaud Kalimuendo, with the French pair expected to be out for many months.

As a result, Rennes are now interested in signing reinforcements, and Danjuma has emerged as a target for the Brittany club, though Premier League interest in the Villarreal star is high, with the Daily Mail reporting that both Everton and Tottenham, as well as AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa, are all chasing the 25-year-old.

Lauded by Owen Hargreaves as an ‘explosive’ winger, the Sun have recently reported that Villarreal want £35m for their star winger this month as an exit from Spain looks more and more likely. And Rennes’ interest in signing Danjuma could complicate matters for Everton and Tottenham.

Indeed, both Everton and Tottenham are on the hunt for creative attackers this January, and with Danjuma available and ready to leave Villarreal, the 25-year-old is the ideal target for both Premier League clubs, though Rennes could now easily win the race for the forward.

As we know, Rennes are one of the richest clubs in Ligue 1 as well as one of the biggest spenders in the division. And with two key players in Terrier and Kalimuendo now injured for quite some time, the French side moving for Danjuma is far from unlikely.

Time is quickly running out for Premier League clubs to make those key signings that could swing the season in their favour, and Everton and Tottenham are no different, with the duo in need of some reinforcements in the attack, which is why Rennes landing Danjuma would feel like such a blow.

After all, Danjuma looked set to join a Premier League side this January based on all the rumours from this month. And the forward now signing for Rennes would be an unlikely move that few would have saw coming, with Everton and Tottenham both having to return to the drawing board.
