Tottenham are reportedly already making plans to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in the summer, even with the Croatian international recently penning a new contract with the Serie A side.

According to Inter Live, Spurs remain heavily interested in the 30-year-old after tracking Brozovic throughout January and even in last year’s summer transfer window, with Antonio Conte seemingly eager to bring one of his former Inter champions to north London.

Earning a reported £184,000-a-week at Inter, Tottenham will have to make quite the financial package to both the Nerazzurri and Brozovic if the Premier League side are to sign the midfielder in the summer, with the Croat’s new deal with the San Siro giants lasting until 2026.

Indeed, whilst Brozovic has been heavily rumoured with a move to Tottenham for what feels like forever, a good case could be made that the north London side are currently in their worst possible position to sign the midfielder given the Serie A star’s contract situation.

With three years remaining and Brozovic clearly keen on staying at Inter, Tottenham could have to pay well above the odds to bring the midfielder to England this summer, a move that could cost Conte’s side valuable time and finances in the off-season.

Moreover, with Tottenham having more issues in their squad than just central midfield, signing Brozovic could realistically see the north London side blow most of their budget on one singular player, a situation few fans want to find the club itself in come the summer.

Tottenham are set for a massive summer even with the window months away from opening, with central midfield a position the club can’t afford to get wrong. And whilst Brozovic ticks a lot of boxes for what Spurs need, the Croat’s situation at Inter make him an unviable option.

Nevertheless. there are more players out there who could make as big an impact for Tottenham than Brozovic, and with plenty of time left between now and the summer, Spurs have the chance to find alternatives who could be more appealing than the Inter superstar.
