Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Pau Torres as a potential upgrade on Eric Dier, but they are facing competition from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and Juventus.

Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Juventus want Pau Torres

Football Transfers have reported that Tottenham, Aston Villa and Juventus all are interested in signing Torres from Villarreal in the summer transfer window.

The defender has a release clause of €50 million (£44 million) in his contract at Villarreal, but the Spanish club could sell him for less if they get “a reasonable offer”.

Tottenham had a bid for the defender last summer turned down, but the North London club are ready to make a move this time around.

Football Transfers have reported that Tottenham see Torres as “a considerable upgrade on Eric Dier”.

The 29-year-old England international central defender is not having the best of seasons.

Aston Villa are also keen on Torres, who has worked under manager Emery, and are so Italian giants Juventus, according to the report.

Exciting

In our view, Pau Torres would be a very good and exciting signing for Tottenham Hotspur or Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old, described as “extraordinary” by Villarreal Mayor Jose Benlloch in Marca in March 2022, is one of the best central defenders around and has played 23 times for Spain.

Torres is 26 now and will hit his peak years soon, so if Tottenham or Villa get him, then they would have him at his best.

The Spaniard has scored one goal in 30 La Liga matches for Spurs this season.
