Dharmesh Sheth says Manchester City could now listen to offers for Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Aymeric Laporte.

The Manchester City centre-back, even though his team won the Treble last season, played only 900-odd minutes in the Premier League and under 300 minutes in the Champions League.

And now, the Treble winners have added Josko Gvardiol to their ranks, with Sky reporter Sheth adding that could decrease Aymeric Laporte’s game time, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (15/08/23 at 5:05 pm).

With Tottenham still in need of centre-backs this summer, they have expressed interest in the French-born Spain international.

You would imagine that this news about Laporte has boosted Spurs’ chances of signing him, that’s if they now put in a serious offer, because the door seems to be open.

Either way, Sheth dropped an update on Laporte and a possible move this summer.

“One of them we mentioned, Aymeric Laporte,” said Sheth. “No signs yet that he is going to leave.

“But we understand that they could listen to offers for Aymeric Laporte. Not a surprise really. You go back to last season. His game time was quite limited, without Josko Gvardiol in the squad.

“Now that they have spent close to £100 million on Josko Gvardiol. You would think that Laporte’s game time would be even further limited.”

Laporte would be a statement signing from Spurs

Micky van de Ven made quite the impact on his Premier League debut for Spurs and showcased that there is a lot of potential to work with – although, Sherwood wasn’t having any of it and blasted the player.

But a player like Laporte is a step above, in fact, a few steps above. He walks into that Spurs XI and even in front of World Cup winner, Cristian Romero.

Just how ambitious is Daniel Levy about getting Spurs back into the big time? Plus, this is life after Harry Kane, fans will be expecting that money to be spent.
