Tottenham Hotspur have been pursing a deal for Metz’s teenage midfielder Pape Matar Sarr – and seem to be closing in on signing him.
Fabio Paratici is still searching for new recruits ahead of the transfer deadline, but his latest target may not play for Tottenham until next season.
Tottenham want to land Metz talent Sarr, and have been putting plans in place to get the midfielder signed up in the coming days.
Get French Football News report that Sarr has already agreed to a six-year contract with Tottenham, with Spurs agreeing to let him return to Metz on loan for the season.
However, that report stated that Tottenham’s offer only totalled €15million (£13million), whereas Metz were seeking €20million (£17million).
Metz president Bernard Serin has now commented on the situation, with Fabrizio Romano quoting him on Twitter this afternoon.

Serin has admitted that talks have been held with Tottenham, branding the negotiations ‘advanced’.
Serin added that the deal isn’t done just yet, and the fee will be much higher than €10million – the initial fee Tottenham were looking to pay.
It looks like Sarr’s move will be done soon, but with the loan back being part of the deal, he wouldn’t make his Tottenham debut until 2022.
