Fabrizio Romano has told his enormous Twitter following that Tottenham hope to get a deal done and confirmed for Sporting Lisbon flyer Pedro Porro by the end of the weekend – with Porro likely to play for Sporting on Saturday.
Porro, 23, has been strongly linked with a move to Spurs and in recent days, there has been a breakthrough in talks. Sporting have remained firm that they would like the full £40million release clause paid for their Spain international.
However, numerous reports state that Spurs are working to convince Sporting to let them pay the fee in numerous instalments over the next couple of years. It appears that Spurs will have to wait until after Saturday to agree a deal.
That is because ex-Manchester City man Porro wants to play for Sporting in Saturday evening’s Cup final against Porto. Then, he is happy to agree a move. Romano says Spurs want to get a deal done by the end of the weekend.
Romano: Tottenham hope to get Porro deal done by end of weekend
Spurs have finally got their act together in the final days of the transfer window. It comes after failing to make any progress at the beginning of the month. But, interest in Porro has remained throughout the course of the window.
Not, it looks as if Spurs’ stubbornness is not going to ruin their chances of a deal for Porro. Indeed, the two sides look as though they are in agreement. Barring no injury scares on Saturday, Porro will join Spurs by Sunday evening.
What happens after that, is a mystery. Spurs have bolstered their front line in Arnaut Danjuma, and have solved the biggest weak link in the team at right wing-back. Another defender is likely to be the next priority for Antonio Conte.
