Inter Milan are reportedly doing all they can to sign rumoured Tottenham target Giorgio Scalvini, who could leave Atalanta this January.
According to Corriere della Sera, the Italian giants will do ‘everything possible’ to sign the Italian teenager this month, with Scalvini having a release clause of €40m (£34m) that could make the 19-year-old defender a realistic target for Inter, with Tottenham also interested.
As per the report, Inter are hopeful of agreeing a deal for Scalvini as an insurance option for the potential departure of Milan Skriniar, with the Slovakian international’s contract due to expire at the end of this season as the centre-back continues to stall over signing a new deal.
For Tottenham, this news will come as a blow for Antonio Conte’s side, with CalcioMercatoWeb reporting that the Italian manager is a big fan of Scalvini and is eager to bring the Atalanta talent to north London in 2023, with a centre-back already on Spurs’ agenda.

Lauded by Gazzetta dello Sport as a ‘generational’ talent, Scalvini has been one of the breakout talents in Europe this season with the Italian international making 13 appearances for Atalanta, ten of which have been starts for the Bergamo-based club.
Indeed, Scalvini fits the profile for what Conte wants in a new centre-back at Tottenham this January. However, Inter’s latest stance on the youngster could push the Nerazzurri to the front of the queue, with Conte now potentially missing out on the youngster to his former club.
Inter signing Scalvini will sting for Conte and Tottenham

Scalvini is widely considered as one of the best young defenders in Europe, with the Atalanta star enjoying a fantastic season that could soon result in a major move away from Bergamo. However, for Tottenham, Inter are slowly asserting themselves as the favourites for the centre-back.
After all, Scalvini is now Inter’s main option to replace Skriniar this January, and with the San Siro star seemingly set to leave in the coming weeks, Tottenham could soon miss out on the 19-year-old wonderkid, something that will sting Conte given which club Spurs are currently dealing with.
