British agent Haydn Dodge has told CaughtOffSide that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign James Maddison from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

Dodge has said that Tottenham have been tracking Maddison for a long time and rate him really highly

Spurs believe that the 26-year-old England international playmaker is “capable of taking them to the next level”, according to the agent.

Dodge said: “When it comes to a midfielder, they’ve been tracking Leicester’s James Maddison for a long time.

“They see him as the type of player capable of taking them to the next level but I guess it hinges on whether or not they want to play three or four at the back.”

Good signing for Spurs

In our view, James Maddison would be a very good signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

The Englishman is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League not to play for a top-six club at the moment.

Now, of course, it depends on how Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte plays next season, and, if indeed, he stays at the North London club beyond the end of the campaign.

However, if Spurs do decide to play with a number 10, then the £110,000-a-week (SalarySport) Maddison would be perfect and could be the second coming of Christian Eriksen.

The Leicester playmaker has scored nine goals and given five assists in the Premier League so far this season.

Maddison scored 12 goals and gave eight assists in the league last season.

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle United are plotting a summer transfer move for Maddison.
