Tottenham Hotspur could resurrect their move for Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu before the transfer deadline – if they can’t land Barcelona’s Emerson Royal.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Tottenham are holding talks with Barcelona to try and thrash out a deal for Emerson.
They attempted to send Serge Aurier to Barcelona as part of the deal, but that was rejected, leaving Fabio Paratici to come up with a better offer.
Paratici loves to work on four or five players at a time in one position, so he will have other targets in mind in case Barcelona won’t let Emerson go.
That’s where Tomiyasu could come back into the picture, weeks after a move for him seemingly went cold.
Six weeks ago, The Athletic reported that Tottenham were on the verge of signing Bologna star Tomiyasu in a £15million deal.
It then looked like the move would be done after Tomiyasu played for Japan at the Olympic Games, but here we are now; Tomiyasu is still a Bologna player.

This new report claims that Tottenham could go back in for Tomiyasu before the deadline, seemingly eyeing him up as a second-choice target behind Emerson.
Tomiyasu is a more defensively-minded right back than Emerson, but would almost certainly come much cheaper.
Emerson looks to be the priority now, but keep an eye on Tomiyasu too as Paratici plots late deals for Tottenham.
