Gary Neville has told The Overlap that Manchester United would snap Tottenham Hotspur’s hand off to sign Harry Kane for £100million in the summer – with the England skipper entering the final year of his current Spurs contract.
The same contract, that Kane felt – in the summer of 2021 – included a gentleman’s agreement to allow him to join Manchester City. But Daniel Levy prevented a move and the England captain has remained at Spurs, at least, until now.
But Kane is set to see his contract enter the final 12 months this summer. That is of course, unless he signs a new deal at Spurs before then. He has been in stunning form of late, taking his tally to 17 goals in 22 League games on Sunday.
A goal that saw Spurs beat Manchester City 1-0, a goal that saw him become only the third player to reach 200 goals in the Premier League – and a goal that took him past Jimmy Greaves as Tottenham’s all-time goalscorer. A huge goal.
But his future remains in doubt as Spurs continue to struggle in their search of trophies. This season, they remain in the FA Cup and have a decent chance. But, Neville says Manchester United would take Kane this summer for £100m.

“If you said to United now, they’ve got no centre-forward – hardly – £100m for Harry Kane, they’d snap your hand off. £100m, right now, they’d snap your hand off,” Neville said on the Overlap, on Manchester United moving for Kane.

Kane has made it clear he is hell-bent on beating Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals. So, he is surely going to stay in the Premier League – it might take him another three or four seasons to beat that huge record.
So, a move abroad, at least for the next few seasons, seems unlikely. But he could still leave Tottenham and join another English club. Manchester United and Chelsea need a no.9, but Paul Merson has rubbished a move to Chelsea.
United is arguably the only club that may actually tempt Kane, and have the financial clout to bring him in. Manchester City have Erling Haaland, Newcastle are unlikely to do a deal and Liverpool have signed Darwin Nunez.
