Tottenham will reportedly sit down with Pedro Porro today to discuss a potential transfer to north London, with Antonio Conte believed to be desperate to sign the Spanish defender this month.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs will meet with Sporting Lisbon to talk about a deal for Porro, with the former Manchester City prospect having a release clause of £40m as Conte looks to sign a new right-back for Tottenham this month.
The Daily Star recently reported that the Italian manager has told Daniel Levy to move for Porro after the fullback’s impressive performances for Sporting this season in both the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the UEFA Champions League, with the Spaniard facing off against Tottenham.
With Conte clearly unhappy with his current right-back options, a move for Porro feels likely this January, and this latest update seems to indicate that Tottenham are now bowing down to the Italian’s wishes, with the club now meeting with Sporting later today.

Indeed, Porro would be quite the addition for Tottenham this month with the 23-year-old Champions League star showing this season that he has the quality to go toe-to-toe with some of the best attackers in Europe, and Conte could be the ideal manager for the Spaniard.
The former Inter Milan boss’s entire tactical system is focused around wing-backs, and Porro’s qualities make the Sporting star ideal for such a role under Conte, with Tottenham in desperate need of a player who can operate in the position to the Italian’s high standards.
Tottenham must push hard to sign Porro this January

Conte is clearly in need of some new players this January, with right-back a position Tottenham have struggled with for many years. Yet Porro could change all of that if Spurs can meet Sporting’s demands to bring the 23-year-old to north London this winter.
A deal might be expensive, but given how important the position is for Conte’s system to work, Tottenham must do all they can to meet the Italian’s demands in the market, with Porro a player who could change Spurs’ fortunes around for the better.
