Robbie Savage has told BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 that Tottenham star Harry Kane would be his no.1 target for Manchester United, because Erik ten Hag’s side have a much better chance of winning a trophy – than Tottenham do this season.

Kane, 29, could do little about Arsenal cruising past Tottenham during Sunday’s North London derby, despite having home advantage. Hugo Lloris made a glaring error from a Bukayo Saka shot, before Martin Odegaard made it two.

The England skipper has been excellent, once again this season. He has 15 goals in 19 Premier League appearances. His deal is due to expire at the end of the 2023-24 term at Spurs. Of course, he almost joined Manchester City in 2021.

Savage said during 606 on Sunday evening that if he was Manchester United, then Kane would be his no.1 target. He does not believe a move can happen this month, but says in the summer, Kane should be United’s main priority.

“Manchester United have got a better chance, under Erik ten Hag, than Spurs have of winning a trophy. I don’t think it would happen in this window, but in the summer, that would be my no.1 target – Harry Kane to Manchester United.”

Kane must have been thinking on Sunday, what chance do I have of winning a trophy with Spurs? With this pragmatic approach to football – Spurs are struggling in the first half. Tottenham continue to go behind week in, week out.

It must have the England captain thinking he should consider a move. This summer is a turning point. Spurs must sell if Kane does not sign a new deal – or, they will lose him on a free transfer. United look like his best chance, this summer.
