Tottenham transfer news: Juventus now hold a ‘strong interest’ in Conte target Pedro Porro

CMW have reported that there is ‘strong interest’ from Juventus in signing Tottenham Hotspur target Pedro Porro.

On Tuesday, Mundo Deportivo had made the claim that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was ‘crazy’ about Porro.

The Guardian had also recently mentioned in a report that Spurs had held fresh talks to complete a deal for the Spanish right-back in January.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano had gone as far as to say that Pedro Porro is keen on joining Tottenham (via Football, which has made it seem like a transfer is inevitable.

Additionally, a right wing-back such as Porro remains top of Conte and Spurs’ transfer priorities in January.

However, reports are suggesting that new competitors are trying to hijack the deal, with Mundo Deportivo claiming that Chelsea are now ‘favourites’ to sign Porro.

This is no surprise, as the £29,000-a-week sensation remains one of Europe’s most exciting young full-backs.

Now, Conte’s former employers may also be intrigued by the prospect of winning the race to sign the former Manchester City man, who had a famous back-and-forth with Pep Guardiola in 2022.

With 34-year-old Juan Cuadrado’s contract set to expire in the summer, it was reported by the Italian outlet 2 weeks ago that the club were on the lookout for a brand-new right wing-back, which explain the links to Porro.

While Juventus seem to have resurrected their season by climbing up to 2^nd in Serie A, the uncertainties at board level and decline of the Italian heavyweights could mean Tottenham are better-placed to sign Pedro Porro.

However, it is almost certain that while the former will secure Champions League qualification, the same cannot be said for the latter.

For a player as highly sought-after such as Porro, he could well favour a switch to Juventus over Tottenham, if Antonio Conte and Co. finish outside the top 4.
