Juventus have reportedly identified Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario as their ideal replacement for Wojciech Szczesny, though AS Roma and Tottenham are also interested in signing the 26-year-old.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady are preparing to offload the Polish international amid growing interest in their starting keeper, with Juventus putting plans in place to sign Vicario, though the Empoli star is also attracting quite an amount of attention from across Europe.
CalcioMercatoWeb recently reported that Jose Mourinho’s Roma and Tottenham are all keen on Vicario, who has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Tuscan-based side this campaign, with Juventus now joining the growing party of interested clubs.
Despite only joining from Cagliari last summer, there’s an expectation that Empoli will now cash in on Vicario, and with Juventus interested in the Udine-born star, Totteham’s pursuit to land the goalkeeper has become somewhat complicated by the Serie A giants.
Indeed, Vicario is being eyed by Fabio Paratici as a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, and whilst Tottenham have the finances to sign the Empoli keeper, Juventus’ interest and their power in the Italian market could play a huge role in the shot-stopper’s future.
However, with Juventus still under investigation over the Plusvalenza scandal, Tottenham could still have the edge in the race to sign Vicario, who might be tempted to make the leap to the Premier League if an offer from Spurs is made in the transfer window.
Tottenham have to beat Juventus to Vicario signing this summer
Vicario has been one of the best keepers in Serie A this season, and with some of Italy’s biggest clubs now interested in the 26-year-old, Tottenham have to ensure they are the club who end up landing the Empoli star come the summer transfer window.
As we know, Spurs need a long-term replacement for Lloris, and although Vicario has enjoyed one sensational season at the top of his game, the Italian has shown enough that he could be a great addition for Tottenham, who can beat Juventus to the shot-stopper’s signature this summer.
