Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Lecce midfielder Morten Hjulmand, who is also believed to be wanted by Tottenham ahead of the summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 23-year-old Serie A star has emerged as an option for Juventus as the Italian giants look to sign a promising midfielder from within their division in the upcoming transfer window, though Tottenham are also chasing Hjulmand.

CalcioMercato recently reported that the north London side are the English side with the most interest in the midfielder, yet interest from Antonio Conte’s former club could cause some issues for Tottenham, with Juventus a club who could appeal to Hjulmand in a big way.

Lauded as ‘fantastic’ by Danish international Mikkel Damsgaard, Hjulmand has been one of the breakout stars of Serie A this season, and the midfielder is widely expected to leave Lecce for good having established himself as a player for the future, with many top sides keeping tabs on the Scandinavian.

Indeed, Hjulmand could be an ideal fit for Conte at Tottenham as the north London side look to add to their central midfield in the summer transfer window. However, interest from Juventus could be a massive problem for Spurs, with the Old Lady commanding a huge draw in Italy.

Even with Juventus missing out on the UEFA Champions League next season, Hjulmand signing for the Turin-based giants would be an appealing move for the Dane, and with Tottenham unlikely to offer the 23-year-old regular football, the Premier League side could miss out this summer on a bargain signing.

Hjulmand has been outstanding for Lecce this season, with the midfielder establishing himself as a top prospect in Italy and a future senior international with the Danish national team, and for Juventus, beating Tottenham to the 23-year-old would be a wise decision.

As we know, Juventus will have a limited budget this summer, and with Hjulmand expected to be available for a cheap transfer fee, the Old Lady would be make a good choice in looking to trump Tottenham in the race to sign the Lecce superstar.
