Tottenham Hotspur are looking at Borussia Dortmund stopper Gregor Kobel as they consider backing away from David Raya.

David Raya has been told that Tottenham Hotspur could move on to other targets as Brentford refuse to budge on their demands.

That is according to 90Min, who report that Tottenham have made no progress in their pursuit of Raya.

It’s stated that Tottenham have now told Raya that they may now walk away from chasing the Spaniard this summer.

Raya is a top target and wants to make the move to Spurs but there is a huge gap between the two clubs in terms of valuation.

Brentford want £40million for Raya, a fee Tottenham see as exorbitant given that he has just one year left on his contract.

The Bees are standing firm that means Tottenham could scrap the move entirely and look at other goalkeepers.

Gregor Kobel has been on Tottenham’s radar for a while now

Kobel will be hard to prise away from Dortmund, especially as they have Champions League football and Tottenham won’t even be in Europe.

Spurs being interested in Kobel maybe shouldn’t be a huge surprise given previous rumours.

Kicker reported back in 2021 that Tottenham were interested in signing Kobel from Stuttgart.

The Swiss stopper instead ended up joining Dortmund and has become their number one stopper ever since.

Kobel has now played 75 times for Dortmund and has also picked up five caps for Switzerland.

A giant stopper at 6ft 5in tall, Kobel has been praised as ‘exceptional’ by Dortmund boss Edin Terzic.

This would be a huge coup for Tottenham if they can pull it off, but we still think Raya will end up at Spurs.

This smacks of Tottenham trying to drive Brentford’s price down by threatening to walk away completely, when the most sensible option for all is to get a deal done.
